Highland
Collection of Plus Size Knit Clothing
This collection was inspired by the highlands of the Europe.
These are the main colors of the collection. The colors of this collection were picked from the inspiration of the lush highlands of Europe and to have a neutral color palette that would work with existing clothes in the someone's closet.
This collection was created with a company in mind for these products called Torrid. This presentation is about the research on this brand as well as other market research.
Pattern Collection

These are the four designs of the collection which include two links links knits and two jacquard knits created in the Shima Seiki knitting software and knit on a 14 gauge machine. All were knit using a 100% combed cotton yarn.
Alternative Yarn

All were simulated using mohair yarn.

Process

The designs in is collection were created in the Shima Seiki software. I started in the Knit Design software and made a canvas that was the exact number of pixels of my final design. I use the argyle tool within the software to create the diamond shapes and overlapped them to make the design seen in the photo above. I did clean a few stay pixels and recolored the design. Once happy with it I sent it to the Knit Paint part of the software where I was able to check the design and assign carriers to it so that I could have a sample knit. I then took the design to simulation and simulated it in many colorways and fiber types. I repeated this same process for the other jacquard knit design.

After completing the two jacquard knit samples I decided to teach myself how to add those designs onto sweaters within the Shima Seiki Software. I experimented within the modeling software and learned how to design the knit with a simulation happening at the same time to get an accurate picture of how the design was turning out. Through this I was able to engineer the argyle design to just be on the top front and back of the sweater and have all of the ribbing be a different color than the rest of the sweater. At the end I was able to get simulations of this sweater on the model I created and capture photos of it from the font, three-fourths, and back view in both jacquard designs.

For the last two designs I created them just in the simulation software and not in the Knit Paint software. I created the two to be engineered on the garment in specific places. For example with the sweater dress I made sure to have the sides of the design be a 1 by 1 rib so that the garment would be able to stretch more easily than without it. For the cardigan, I was strategic by how I places the cables down the side of the arms so that the cables were more of an accent design rather than the whole arm being full of cables. With these two designs I was able to get the sample simulation photographs as I was for the other two designs.
