Our collection was inspired by buttercup flowers and strawberries because of their connotation with youth.
Our color pallet was chosen very meticulously. We really wanted to cater to your tween audience. We chose to do a mix of dark and light colors to show the odd time this audience is in. We have light colors to still draw to their youthfulness but we also added the darker mature colors that are popular with teens.
This is our small presentation we made about our demographic which includes our brands mission statement and research we conducted on our costumers.

These are my two patterns that I made for the collection using Lectra Kaledo Print. One of them is a tossed repeat in a half drop configuration and the second one is a complex stripe repeat in a half drop configuration.

I textures mapped my patterns onto items that tweens would use with their bathing suits.

Process

This project went through many stages. I first panted the motifs with gouache paint on bristol board paper. I then scanned them into the computer using a scanner and taking my motifs into Adobe Photoshop. Within Photoshop, I reduced the colors and cleaned the edges of the motifs.

After Photoshop, I took the motifs into Lectra Kaledo where I then copied the motifs into the clipboard and made my first few patterns. I made four patterns total but only went with the best two. In Kaledo, I also played around with color placement using Kaledo's color randomizer.
After I finalized the prints I texture mapped them onto beach items inside of Photoshop.
